Light

Darkness and light have been critical elements of my trauma history. Much of the abuse I suffered happened at night: in the dark. My childhood memories are blacked out. Flashbacks also began at night. In the first phases of my coping with complex-PTSD Faure's requiem, with its irreligious hope of eternal light brought me some comfort. So, the impact of lighting on my work has gained particular significance.

I spent a lot of time in the photo studio this term, attempting to work out lighting that would allow me to capture the movement of my falling dinnerware. I have also spent as much time lighting my end of semester presentation as I have preparing other aspects of the installation.
