Struggling to speak

I continue to struggle to find words to express my trauma succinctly and poignantly without involving a narrative. It's not easy.

Maintaining the pattern of triplets and alliteration:

  • Anguish, anger, appeasement

  • Tired, tender, terrified

  • Tender, tempted, terrified

  • Fear, fury, flashbacks

Then there's the simple phrase “Please don’t hurt me”—these are words specifically related to my flashbacks and don’t fit the mould of the words triplets I’ve been experimenting with. To me they are more powerful because they arise directly from my experience of traumatic memory. At first they seem too difficult to express in public , and I sit with "Please don't" for a while, but the entire phrase is more effective.
